The final number to advance will be determined by the Directors based on the need to create balanced ZCS brackets.

ZCS Format:

Bracket Creation

The final ZCS field will be divided into groups of between 12 and16 players, dependent on the number of qualified entrants. Public dice rolls will be used to randomly distribute the field into the Round 1 brackets.

After Round 1, the Host will randomly assign the group winners into the two Round 2 brackets, followed by the runners-up. This process will be repeated until all advancing players have been assigned. If any advancing players have the same record after Round 1 play, they will be randomly assigned.

After Round 2, the eight advancing players will be seeded first through eighth based on their weighted cumulative record (40% of Round 1 wins + 100% of Round 2 wins).

  • The First Seed will choose an opponent from those seeded 5th through 8th.
  • The Second Seed will choose an opponent from the remaining players seeded 5th through 8th.
  • The Third Seed will do the same.
  • The Fourth Seed will do the same.
The First and Fourth Seeds and their opponents will comprise the first elimination bracket, the Second and Third Seeds and their opponents comprise the second.

Tie-Breakers
In the event of ties affecting advancement, these ties will be broken as follows :

  • head to head competition in the current round of play,
  • the cumulative record of wins and losses in Rounds 1 and 2 (applies to Round 2 ties only),
  • an elimination or round robin playoff - depending upon the number of tied players
All tiebreak matches will be 15 pt. matches. Unbroken Round 3 ties for seeding position will be settled by dice rolls rather than another match.
