Fall 2002 ZCS Rules
       Note : All references to the ZCS apply to the ZCSQ and Last Chance as well.

        Entry Rules
  1. The Directors or Host may refuse any entry based on any of the following :
    • inappropriate behavior or unethical tactics in other ZCS, tournament or league matches,
    • an unsatisfactory record of completing matches in previous ZCS tournaments, 
    • providing incomplete or false information with their entry, or
    • sanctions by the Zone.
  2. Each person may submit only one entry form. Any and all Zone nicknames that players wish to be considered must be listed on the entry form. The nickname that will be used to play will be determined by the priorities incorporated in the eligibility criteria.
  3. All Players must provide a personal email address.  This email will not be publicized on the ZCS-ZCSQ site.  Instead, a ZCS-ZCSQ.com email address will be used to forward all email to the player's personal email address.

    Rules of Play
  4. Match results must be posted, by the winner, within 24 hours of match completion and before that round has ended.
  5. Players may not receive assistance of any kind from any source during a match. This includes, but is not limited to, reference material, automated backgammon programs, or other humans.
  6. The tactic of deliberately losing a match to influence the outcome of the tournament is prohibited.
  7. All matches will be played in the Doubling Cube room.  During a match, players’ ZM must be on and set to DND, auto-double must be set to OFF, and Kibbitzing must be left ON.  Either player may silence watchers.

    Rules of Conduct
  8. MSN Gaming Zone COC must be adhered to at all times while playing in the ZCS tournaments, as well as maintaining a high standard of ethical behavior and sportsmanship. Any lapse risks disciplinary action from the Host that may include, but is not limited to, forfeiting points, forfeiting matches, or disqualification.
  9. Matches may be analyzed and this analysis may be published. Players agree to this by entering. If either player requests the dice log to be saved so that it can be snowied for the ZCS, the players must remain at the table after the conclusion of the match until the dice log has been saved.

    Replacements/Substitutions
  10. Any player who does not show any matches played within 7 days of the start of the round or at least 5 matches within 14 days of the start of the round may be replaced.  If you know that you cannot meet one of these requirements and wish an exception, you must notify the Host, in advance, with sufficient cause.
  11. The Host has the discretion to replace a player when they withdraw, or are removed by the Host.  If there are no valid played games, the replacment player will play as a regular player and may advance as any other player would.  If there are valid played games, then the replacement player will assume the wins and losses of the replaced player, and may still advance as any other player can.  All Replacement Players for the ZCS Round 1 will be selected from the ZCSQ, and for the ZCS Round 2 from Round 1.

    General
  12. All rulings during the active tournamanent will be done by the Host.  Any entrant wishing to dispute a Host ruling may do so by directing the issue to the Tournament Directors, whose decision is final.  Where appropriate, the Directors will appoint others to adjudicate on appeals in their place.
  13. Notwithstanding any of the above the Directors may amend or add to these rules should in their view circumstances make it necessary in order to best achieve the purpose of the ZCS or ZCSQ.
