Spring 2006 ZCSQ Tournament Format

ZCSQ players will be randomly divided into groups of 7 to 10 players, as the numbers permit it.  The Directors may re-size the brackets depending on entries, to evenly distribute the players.   The number of entries that will make up the ZCSQ will be determined by the number of entries submitted and the closest number that will evenly distribute the players into brackets. All remaining entries will be placed on a replacement list and will be prioritized according to the order they submitted their entry.
Public dice rolls will be used to randomly distribute the field into the brackets.
  • Each player will play every other player in their bracket.  Points will depend on the round being played.
  • The winner will post the result within 24 hrs. of match completion
  • Either player may submit the dice log for analysis.
  • After the First Round the Brackets will be divided into Winners Brackets and Elimination Brackets.
  • After the Second Round, the top two Players from each Winners Bracket will qualify for the ZCS.
  • In the First Round only Tie breakers will be decided on head to head competition.

Round 1.
11 pt matches.

  • The top two players from each bracket move to the Winners Brackets for round 2.
  • Third through sixth place players will advance to the elimination brackets.
  • The remaining players will be eliminated from the tournament and become eligible for the Last Chance tournament

Round 2.
Winners Bracket 13 pt matches.
Elimination Bracket 11 pt Matches.

  • The top two players from each Winners Bracket Qualify for the ZCS.
  • The remaining players from the Winners Bracket advance to Round 3 in the elimination brackets
  • The first through 4th place in the elimination bracket advance to Round 3 in the elimination brackets
  • The remaining players will be eliminated from the tournament and become eligible for the Last Chance tournament.

Round 3
Elimination Brackets only, 13 pt matches

  • A minimum of the top two finishers in each Bracket will qualify for the ZCS.

Tie Breakers:

In the event of ties affecting advancement, the following will apply.

  • Head to head competition in the current round of play

      a.      First by the number of wins against all the other players in that tie,

      b.      Second, if necessary, by who won over the other player.

  • The cumulative record of wins and losses in the current and previous round(s)
  • An elimination or round robin playoff, depending upon the number of tied players.
  • All tie break matches will be the same number of points as the round and bracket that is being decided.

The final number to advance will be determined by the Directors based on the need to create balanced ZCS Brackets.

Replacements from one round to the next will be selected from the bracket the player came from, if this is not possible it will come from the Overall players, this is for rounds 2 and 3 of the ZCSQ.
